We spent his birthday shopping, going to dinner and a movie. I compiled a CD for him with help from family and friends. I asked for a song(s) that made them think of Seth. Here are some highlights:
Kristen "Fishing in the Dark" by Nitty Gritty Dirt Band because he loves fishing so much!
"Live Like You Were Dying" by Tim McGraw because he has been through a lot in his life and he really does know how to live and make the most of life.
"Watching You" by Rodney Atkins because I think he is going to be one awesome dad
Kara I’m gonna be (500 miles)” by the Proclaimers it was on Benny and June. They look like my dad and Uncle Paul when they were younger and we used to always laugh about that.
Karisa “Come on Baby, Light my Fire” I remember Seth singing this in high school for a choir final or something. Every time I hear it I think of him standing at the piano practicing with mom.
Doug The song Denice and I thought of was "Apologize" by Timbaland and One Republic. One time when Denice and I were staying with you in Boise, we were driving in the car and this song came on. Seth said he loved, it and at the time it was our favorite song too. We thought that was pretty cool.
Matt "Gangsters Paradise" by Coolio- Seth used to play this song when he would take me to football practice because he said it would pump me up. "ESPN's Sports Center Theme song" What can I say he loves ESPN. I used to watch sports with Seth all of the time this song has to be on the CD
Rich Gardner “Hip to Square” by Huey Lewis. He and Seth use to listen to this song all the time and he always wanted to borrow your Huey Lewis and the News CD
Jon Christensen
“I want it that way” by the Backstreet Boys. He and Seth would play it in your dorm room together.
Mom “Sunrise, Sunset” because watching Seth grow has been a miracle each and every day. Not just a miracle because he survived (his birth and the unique health challenges), but because of the fine person that he is! He was born with many, many fine traits that he has developed beautifully as he has grown up.
Dad “I’m Too Sexy” When Seth was in high school he was a cheerleader for the Homecoming powder puff team, uniform, wig and all! He was also famous for his dancing skills at the school dances
Grandma Johnson - Rock a bye baby. My thoughts turn to when Seth was born and had so many problems, surgeries etc. At one point Kathy got sick and couldn't care for him, due to Doctor’s orders to keep him away from germs, illnesses and etc. Seth came to live with us for a while--it was during that time that Seth first smiled. After all he had been through; I felt it was a miracle that he was able to smile. That gorgeous smile still melts my heart after all these years.
Nicole- “Home” This is a favorite for both of us no matter who is singing it…Michael Buble, Elliott Yamin or Blake Shelton. The best place to me is being Home with you. I picked your favorite version!
“The Reason” by Hoobastank You put this on the CD that you made for me. It was that weekend that I knew I wanted to be with you and we talked about getting married.
"Live Like You Were Dying" by Tim McGraw because he has been through a lot in his life and he really does know how to live and make the most of life.

Happy Birthday Seth! I just turned 30 on the 29th, so I can relate! My back has been hurting ever since!
Great idea Nicole on the songs... might have to steal that one. I always want to find something meaningful for Josh on holidays, but all he ever wants are video games or something.
